Chapter 2, Part 1
It was hot and noisy. The helicopter was buffeting on the thermals as the pitched side to side. The pilot said, “strap in we are in for a little trouble.” Someone yelled “fuck this let’s jump.” Everyone laughed. Then the helicopter pitched forward and spun into the earth. It was just seconds from the air to the ground. Cathern found herself on the ground staring at the wreckage. Everything felt broken. She could see her son. Back when the brought him home she insisted in seeing him and instantly regretted it. He was in pieces. Out in the desert she could see a man in shining blue armor. It was a striking contrast against the sand. The knight drew his sword. A long blade with a blue tint to it. He charged her. As he grew closer she heard another sound from behind her. She couldn’t move her head to see it. The sound came closer than over her. a mass of black. Strange creatures made up of black smoke and angles. She could see red eyes and sharp white teeth. One of them kicked her as they passed. The kick forced her over so she could see what was behind her. There was a woman. Curly hair with a thing red headband. She was in a shear white dress that come off her shoulders exposing her arms and clinging to her body. She could see every curve through the dress her daughter Kaylee was wearing. She radiated a sexuality and sensuality that she never did before.

Cathern woke up. It was the most real unreal dream she ever had. She looked over at her dresser at the picture of her son. It was his graduation picture. She had removed any picture of him in uniform from the house when he died. She looked over at the empty place where her husband would be. She was mad about the lie. His constant denials made her feel like she was all alone. But now she was alone. She put on a long coat and wrote a note for Kaylee. Then she drove to his motel room. She would drive past it almost every day. Every day she would remember him saying it didn’t happen and she would drive on by. This time she pulled into the parking lot and up to near the door of his room. She knocked at his door. Donald opened it and found Cathern only wearing one of his shirts and a long open coat. He smelled like stale beer and sour whisky. She didn’t care. She pushed him into the room and closed the door. She kissed him but not on the mouth. Neck, face, hands and his bare shoulders but not on the boozy mouth. She pushed him down and climbed on top. She didn’t care about being gentle. She ripped open his boxers and pulled him out. The sex was quick and violent. Filled with all her anger about his lie, their son’s death, Kaylee’s accident and how nothing made sense. Donald was so hung over he wasn’t sure any of this was real.
The two lay in his cheap motel bed sweaty, naked and content. Cathern said, “find a rehab. One of those 28 days things and sober up. If you can do that and promise to remain sober then you can come home.” The demon in his soul that kept him drunk screamed NO. The better angel on his shoulder that missed his family spoke up. He said, “I am so sorry I left you all alone and.” She stopped him and said, “talk is cheap. It’s time to act or accept its over because we will never be together while you are drinking.” She got up and went to get dressed. She realized in the heat of the moment her shirt was ripped into three pieces. Without a word, Donald handed her a shirt. It was clean but it also had his sent. His sent from before the bottle. By the time Cathern had made it home Donald was on his way to rehab. By that night he was checked in.
Cathern snuck into the house. It was a useless attempt. Kaylee saw her pull into the driveway. Her mother’s note said we went to work out. As Cathern approached the stairs Kaylee said, “what kind of workout can you do in only a shirt? One that changes the color of that shirt and smells like dad?” Cathern told her she went to speak to her father and he would be coming home in 29 days. He needed time to get help. Kaylee said, “you mean sober up.” Cathern felt too good to argue with Kaylee. Something in the back of her mind was jumping up for joy in seeing this Kaylee. The smartass teen version. She was also happy about the possibility of getting her husband back. Cathern said to Kaylee, “get dressed I think we should go out for breakfast.” Kaylee said, “I think you mean lunch.” Cathern checked the clock on the wall and found it was 1pm. Kaylee sniffed in her mother’s direction and suggested a shower couldn’t hurt.
Kaylee was walking along a wooded area with a running stream. As she walked she found a standing pool that had steam on top. The water was very warm to borderline hot. She slipped out of the shear white gown she was wearing and into the water. The feeling of the water and the excitement and thrill of public nudity was overwhelming even as she knew it wasn’t real. A man started to come closer. He was naked from the waste up and carrying some armor all tied together on his back. the armor was white with a solid black circle in the breast plate. Kaylee swam to the edge. He dropped the armor and dropped his pants. Kaylee knows what a naked man looks like. This one looked like the ones in the magazines her mother hides in the back of her closet. All muscles with the only hair on him on his head. As he approached Kaylee swam to the other side of the small pool. He climbed in and swam to the left. She also went to the left and they ended up just going around. Finally, he come over to her through the middle. The water was only about waste deep on Kaylee but she knelled so her breasts would be below the water. The man was over 6’ tall so his pelvis protruded from the water and his genitals were visible just under the surface. He knelled so his face would be at her level. Then the two went backwards. The pool quickly became shallow until they were on dry ground. Kaylee was on her back, naked and with a naked man on top of her. She could feel his erect penis press up against her inner-thigh.
