War of the Rabbits
It was a beautiful day as Brad Herald and his family had a picnic in the park. Off in the distance they could hear a commotion. People screaming and running. Also, a bunch or rabbits. With a fear of terrorism always in his mind Brad told his wife Susan to take the kids and go to the car. As they packed, Brad went to find what the problem was. Susan didn’t like his curiosity but she also wanted to know what was wrong. Brad disappeared over the hill. He came running back screaming, “forget the stuff run to the car.” Susan didn’t want to leave her new picnic settings behind until she saw the rabbit wave engulf Brad. She screamed then grabbed the children and made it to the car. In the car, she searched for the keys. There was a tap on the window. A thump. Susan looked up to see a rabbit on the hood of the car holding the blood-soaked keys. In a high-pitched voice the rabbit said, “I don’t think you are going anywhere humans.”
The takeover was going well. Rabbit victories were happening everywhere. Surprisingly many big cities fell easily. A population that disarmed themselves made an easy target for the wave. In the human city near what will be the capital the last human was cornered. He was cut up and badly beaten. The general moved in. He said to the human, “you are the last of your kind in the city. I want my trophy.” The human asked, “what are you.” The general answered, “the cure for the plague that is human.” The general raised his gun and fired four shots into the human’s head. At first, he didn’t feel a thing then his head nearly exploded with the expanding rounds. The human was still twitching as the general cut open his pants and cut off his penis. He had a trophy from the first kill and the last human in the town once known as Wichita. They would be dried and made into a necklace for the General.
The war was slowing down out in the countryside. More humans have guns and they are spread further apart. The rabbits are using more of the almond shaped micro nukes going from house to house clearing out the communities. This come at a cost. Radiation is spreading too close to the valuable going fields. The same is being said in the countryside of China. By the end of day one the rabbit forces have lost a little under 20% and the humans are down by nearly a billion. The rabbit queen celebrated their first day of war in her new above ground capital city formally known as Wichita. She spent that night with the General.
The next day the war intensified. Cities that had no value to the rabbits are being nuked. Such cities as Miami, Rome, Moscow and Los Angeles are being micro nuked on a massive scale. From her monitors, the queen could see the victory celebration in New York and Paris. What was missing was the plans for the White house. Until the camera turned on The day before. The war was on. The president and his family were taken to a bunker to protect the chain of command. No one can believe this was happening. The next day the president saw his family for the first time. He also saw his daughter’s bag. The President said to the secret service as he backed away, “did anyone check her bag.” The bag was empty. From behind the president they heard a strange mechanical laugh. It was Floppy, the first daughter’s pet bunny. Its fur was pulled away showing it was fake and underneath it had about 50 almond shaped things. The rabbit said, “for the queen and Kingdom.” Outside of the bunker the sound of many micro nukes going off could be heard. It turned the bunker into a raging inferno.
For the first time ever, the internet was available in North Korea. They wanted the people to see what was happening in the western world. With the hated America was gone the south open to unification through invasion. They started with a massive artillery shelling of Seoul. Then an invasion around the demilitarized zone. The war went from great distances to door to door and eventually hand to hand. As the humans killed each other the rabbits watched. They ate carrots, bet on battles and laughed as the humans did their work for them. With the north’s army in the south the rabbit army in China swept into North Korea and cleaned out the population.
As the war raged across the lands the cleanup started. The focus was on the capital and the growing fields. It was too late in the season to plant but they would be ready for spring. It was important to clean out the humans as soon as possible. The queen was fond of saying, “They stink when they rot.” By day three the tied was turning back. The rabbit forces were down to 50% of the initial invasion army. The humans were fighting back. In some remote areas, the humans had some victories. Australia was lost on day one. The next wave wouldn’t be ready for another week. Then the first betrayal. A Rabbit in Europe declared her Kingdom on the bodies of the British royalty. The first Rabbit civil war was being planned even before the ink was dry on the first week of the rabbit dominance of the earth.
